Federico Fabrizi, PERSEPHONe ESR#11 has won a prize for best Young Researcher oral presentation during E-MRS Conference last week at Wasaw, Poland. Congratulations!
Training Event in Oxford, UK
The 4th Training Event of the PERSEPHONe Network took place in the morning of 18th September at Oxford, UK. Lectures were profered from several highly valued speakers that shared their experiences on the conversion of research into industralization. The event was followed by the starting of the PSCO Conference 2023, to which the ESRs have attended in the same city.
Dr. Petrozza at the Women in Materials Science & Engineering Keynote Breakfast @ Spring MRS 2023
Dr. Petrozza at the Women in Materials Science & Engineering Keynote Breakfast @ Spring MRS Meeting & Exhibit 2023 Annamaria Petrozza, Principal Investigator at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia will give a presentation as a featuring Keynote Speaker at the Women's Breakfast. This special and enjoyable session is scheduled on April 11th at the Spring MRS Meeting & Exhibit 2023 in San Francisco, California. In this keynote talk Dr. Petrozza will discuss “How Serendipity and Personal Choices Guided Me Through Materials and Career Explorations”. Join the event by registering on link below.
PERSEPHONe & SMART-X Winter School in Bormio
The two MSCA - Innovative Training Networks, PERSEPHONe and SMART-X, organized a joint winter school in Bormio, Italy, on January 2023, for training scientists from both networks on the development of a new technological platform based on perovskites for photonics and on the development of time resolved X-ray spectroscopy for the study of new functional materials. The place chosen to host this event was the city of Bormio in the Italian Alps, a winter wonderland famous for its ski and thermal resorts. It was organized unitedly by their respective host institutions, the Italian Institute of Technology and the National Research Council of Italy.
Foreign Excursion Tour 2022 - Technologisch Gezelschap (TG)
On 19th July 2022 the Center of Nano Science and Technology (CNST), Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Milan received a visit from the Foreign Excursion Tour 2022. The group of 25 students from Technologisch Gezelschap (TG) was accompanied by two professors from the TU Delft, Laurens Siebbeles and Gabrie Meesters. The tour group was welcomed by Dr. Annamaria Petrozza and Dr. Maria Rosa Antognazza who delivered a short introduction of IIT & their research centers.
As part of the tour, the visitors were taken on CNST’s labs of Material Synthesis and Processing; Device Fabrication and Characterization; and Advanced Spectroscopy. Visitors were able to see the steps and equipment involved in developing novel perovskites for applications in thin films, photovoltaics and photoelectrodes.
Guests were also introduced to the research related to fabrication and characterization of biohybrid interfaces and functional materials inspired by organisms like Hydra, these materials may be used for applications in regenerative medicine, optogenetics etc. During the visit, students were able to see the equipment used to fabricate photovoltaics with the help of focused beam lasers and those used in characterization such as the electron and photo emission microscopes.
The second webinar delivered within the PERSEPHONe network focused on "Metaterials" and was delivered by the PI from our partner institution Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Prof. Cesare Soci. The webinar can be watched again on the link below
PERSEPHONe's Coordinator Dr. Annamaria Petrozza awarded MRS Innovation in Materials Characterization Award
Annamaria was awarded the 2022 MRS Innovation in Materials Characterization Award for her outstanding work on the development and innovative use of time-resolved carrier dynamics measurements, from sub-picoseconds to milliseconds, to fundamentally advance our understanding of the photo-physics of metal-halide perovskites, leading to materials and devices of improved stability.
The awarding took place during the MRS Spring Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, followed by Petrozza's talk on “Defects Activity in Metal Halide Perovskites”.
UPDATE: First Training Event - TE1
The first training event of the network is scheduled to take place via videoconference was extended of an half-a-day, so the news dates are on 7th-8th (full days) and on 9th (morning) of February 2022.
