SCIENTIST IN CHARGE

Surendra Babu Anantharaman

AMO - AACHEN

Surendra B. Anantharaman has been leading the Group for Perovskite Optoelectronics at AMO GmbH, Germany, since September 2022. Before joining AMO, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He investigated exciton-polariton dynamics upon strong light-matter coupling without an external cavity from two-dimensional (2D) perovskites, transition metal-dichalcogenides, and emerging 2D hybrid materials. He received his Ph.D. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in 2019 on “Exciton Dynamics in 2D Organic Assemblies for Realization of Next-Generation Optoelectronic Devices”. He also had a stint working with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Taiwan, in the Thin Films Division before joining the Ph.D. program. His current research focuses broadly on light-emitting devices, energy harvesting systems, and spin/charge injection in perovskite optoelectronic devices. S.B.A is a recipient of the Swiss National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship (2019-2021), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Postdoctoral Fellowship (2016), and the Ministry for Human Resources and Development, India (2009-2012).
