Anna Lena Giesecke

AMO - AACHEN

Dr. Anna Lena Giesecke is heading the nanophotonics group at AMO GmbH in Aachen since 2014. After receiving her physics degree from the Institute of Quantum Optics at Leibniz Universität Hannover and working in the development of mode-locked solid-state lasers, she moved to Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf to research novel radiation sources with high-power lasers as part of her PhD thesis (April 2013) in laser and plasma physics. Since 2013, she has been with AMO GmbH working on the development of integrated nanophotonic devices for optical data communications. She is involved in numerous EU and nationally funded projects (FP7, Horizon 2020, BMBF, DFG), which mainly involve research and development in silicon photonics, plasmonics and graphene optoelectronics. Recently, her research group developed a new silicon nitride-based fabrication platform for broadband photonic integrated circuits. One of the key results was the first on-chip perovskite laser based on silicon nitride photonics. The integration of innovative materials into dielectric photonic platforms is a key area of AMO's photonic developments for both sensing and quantum photonic applications. Dr Giesecke is currently coordinating the FET-OPEN EU project POSEIDON with eight European partners.
