OSA Fellow, Andrea Melloni is Full Professor at Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria – Politecnico di Milano – where he leads the group of Photonic Devices and teaches the master course “Photonics Devices”. With a background in microwaves, his field of research is in the analysis, design, characterization and exploitation of passive integrated optical devices for telecom and sensing. He has been one of the pioneers of the slow light concept and its exploitation in the linear and nonlinear domain. He is currently contributing to define the new schemes of generic photonic foundries in Europe. In 2008 he founded the company Filarete, for the development and commercialization of the first circuit simulator for integrated optical circuits, ASPIC (www.aspicdesign.com). He holds 13 international patents in the field of integrated optics and components and he is the author and co-author of over 90 publications in the major international journals.

Daniele Cortecchia holds a Master of Science in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Bologna (2012) and a PhD at the Interdisciplinary Graduate School at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2018). In 2017 he joined Annamaria Petrozza's group at the Italian Institute of Technology, Center for Nano Science and Technology (IIT-CNST), Milan. In 2018 he was awarded with the MSCA Seal of Excellence. Since 2020, he is Marie Curie Fellow at IIT working on the project PERICLeS. Daniele is also a Co-Supervisor of the MSCA-ITN project PERSEPHONe. His research covers the study of advanced metal halide perovskites for application in optoelectronics, with focus in light-emitting and photonic devices. He is particularly interested in the development of rational synthetic design strategies for the control of perovskite’s luminescence properties, and in the investigation of their fundamental photophysical properties.

Mario Caironi was born in Bergamo (Italy) in 1978. He studied at “Politecnico di Milano” (Milan, Italy) where he obtained his Laurea degree in Electrical Engineering in 2003 and a Ph.D. in Information Technology with honours in 2007, with a thesis on organic photodetectors and memory devices. In March 2007 he joined the group of Prof. Henning Sirringhaus at the Cavendish Laboratory (Cambridge, UK) as a post-doctoral research associate. He worked in Cambridge for 3 years on high resolution inkjet printing of downscaled organic transistors and logic gates, and on charge injection and transport in high mobility polymers. In April 2010 he has been appointed as a Team Leader at the Center for Nano Science and Technology@PoliMi of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Milan, Italy), in 2014 entered the tenure track at the same institution and obtained a tenured researcher position in 2019. He is author and co-author of more than 130 scientific papers in international journals and books. He is currently interested in solution based high resolution printing techniques for micro-electronic, opto-electronic and thermoelectrics devices fabrication, in the device physics of organic semiconductors based field-effect transistors and their integration in high-frequency printed circuits, and in biomedical and/or implantable sensors and electronics for the healthcare. He is a 2014 starting ERC grantee and a 2019 consolidator grantee.
